C.L.A. Abbott: Charles Lydiard Abbott held the seat of Gwydir in Federal Parliament from 1925 to 1929, and also was Minister for Home Affairs, 1928-1929. In 1931 he was re-elected, and remained until 1937. From Canberra, Abbott moved to Darwin to to the Northern Territory's Administrator from 1937 until 1946.
